UPDATE: To be fair, the root cause of most of my issues was due to a dead MyQ door sensor battery; the installed battery died after 10 months.
However, the mobile app did not alert me to that issue as advertised. My rating would be higher if Chamberlain would restore the SmartThings compatibility. Until then, this is not a smart home compatible device.
Fails to accurately display open and close status. No longer supports SmartThings and basic smart home funtions.
Notifications are not reliable. Anyone have a good recommendation for a better solution? Works as stated. I really wish they would improve this app tho. Would like to see landscape support and/or a widget. Just takes too many steps to open my garage door from the phone. I've dropped my review down one star because there seems to be no growth on this software, no IFTTT support, no widget, no Android auto and no real updates.
C'mon Chamberlain!!! I have dropped to one star because in order to use this app with IFTTT you have to pay a subscription which is absolutely ridiculous!!! Chamberlain you should be ashamed of yourself! Don't recommend this brand. They charge monthly for integration with ifttt and google assistant because they feel their products are great in their own.
Well they are slow and I regret investing money on a company like this. Never buying their products again in the future. They also for security reason not allow you to unlock the door with any app other than wink. If they are scared about security from other apps like ifttt and google then why are they not afraid of wink being hacked. Complete garbage! If they are scared about security from other apps like ifttt and google then why are they not afraid of wink being hacked. Complete garbage! It opens the door and closes the door. All in all it does what it's supposed to do. And it never really gives me trouble.
I give it 4 stars because it's always felt like something is lacking. I think what I might these just the fact that it takes too many steps to open the door or close the door.
Once I get logged in it opens the door pretty quick. It's also nice for closing the door when I leave so I don't have to leave my garage door opener in the car.
I do like the notification to let me know when somebody opens the door while I'm not at home. That lets me know my son got home safe.
I got a Chamberlain MyQ Garage door controller recently and have been enjoying it. It lets me open and close the door from anywhere with my smartphone and it notifies me when the door has been left open. No more going back home to check if I closed the garage! I think I followed the installation instructions alright, but my unit had trouble closing the garage door sometimes.
The Wi-Fi hub would get the command and started its warning lights and beeps, but the garage door opener wouldn't receive the signal to close the door. After some very helpful time on the phone with a tech support rep, I moved the hub a bit further away from my opener's motor box and made it was not in between the hub and the dangling RF antenna on the motor box. Since then, it has worked every time! Anyway, besides sharing my satisfied experience with the MyQ, I thought I'd share this troubleshooting script that the tech support rep e-mailed me as part of a follow-up. Maybe someone will find it useful in the future! Router has no connection If your router has no power or lost connection to the internet, the Wi-Fi Hub cannot communicate with the router to receive any commands. Check the Wi-Fi hub.
There should be a solid green light. Unplug the router and plug it back in. See if this restores connection. Hub is too close to the motor unit In some instances when the hub had been installed too close to the motor unit, interference may occur.
Unplug the hub and move it away at least 2 feet from the motorhead. Test to see if the door will open and close. If this takes care of the issue, the hub will need to be installed further away from the motor unit. Note: If the hub has to be installed further away from the opener, it must still be installed inside the garage so that the flashing light is visible to the door. No power to the garage door opener If your garage door opener no longer has power, the Wi-Fi hub will send a command to the garage door opener If your garage door is closed, the app will show the door closed and the spinning wheel shows the door is attempting to open but nothing happens following by error message 'Garage Door Opener is not responding.
Please try again.' You will be able to repeat this over and over and the door will not open. If the door is open, the app will show the door moving but the garage door opener will not activate.
Since the door sensor does not move, the app will respond with error message 'Garage Door Opener is not responding. Please try again.' If you attempt a second time, the same error message will be displayed. You can repeat this process over and over, the door will not close and the Wi-Fi Hub alarm will continue to sound for 40 seconds. Check to make sure there is power to the opener.
No power to the Wi-Fi hub If the Wi-Fi Hub is powered off and the user attempts to open or close the garage door by the MyQ Home Control App, the door will not open or close and will receive the error message. 'The gateway or hub is offline. Please check the power and network connections. (309)' Check to make sure there is power to the hub.

Also, check for green LED. Safety sensors are not working or there is an obstruction (Test the door opener opening and closing using the door control or remote transmitter.) The hub will command the door to open, however the system will provide an error message when attempting to close the door. The Wi-Fi Hub will command the door to close, however the garage door opener will not activate the door.
Depending on your garage door opener, the work lights may flash indicating a sensor issue. If the user attempts to close the door a 2nd time from the app, and the Wi-Fi Hub will notice the error and will no longer command the door to close. The app will show a Close Error. The user must identify the situation and resolve. User must also command the door with a remote control or door control before the Wi-Fi or app will command the door to operate. Door encounters an obstruction while opening or closing the door Depending on your system, the door may respond differently. When opening the door, if the door encounters an obstruction, the door will stop opening, the next command may open or close your door. If the door encounters an obstruction while closing, the door should reverse back to the open position.
Depending on your system, when you activate the door again, the door may either close or open. You may need to activate the system multiple times for the door to become open or closed. User needs to determine what is in the path of the door, check the balance of the door and maybe reset the limits and force to ensure the garage door opener works as designed. If the door sensor battery no longer has power, the Wi-Fi hub will not receive a signal and the Wi-Fi Hub device will not command the garage door opener to activate. The phone app will also indicate the sensors battery needs to be replaced. From the app, the customer can command an open or closed door, if the app attempts to open or close 2 times and status in app does not show correct change of state, battery in sensor is probably dead and needs to be replaced or door is encountering an obstruction.
